Newman  Scholarships

Every year, St. Thomas More Newman Center awards a number of scholarships to active Newman college students attending the University of Oregon and Lane Community College.
These scholarships were established by the families below and expanded
by the generosity of the Newman Community.
UNIVERSITY OF OREGON SCHOLARSHIPS
Len & Margaret Casanova Scholarship
The Len & Margaret Casanova Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 to provide scholarships to students attending the University of Oregon and participating in Newman Center activities.  One student will be selected for this scholarship.  Students may apply each year.
The award for the 2025-26 Academic Year will be (one) $10,000.

Ron Brandt Scholarships
From a bequest of Ruth M. Brandt, the Ron Brandt Scholarship Fund has been established to provide scholarships to students attending the University of Oregon and participating in the Newman Center activities. Ruth established this endowment through her last will and testament in loving memory of her son Ron, who tragically died while attending the University of Oregon. This scholarship is restricted to University of Oregon students only. There is no limit to award winners. Students may apply in succeeding years.
The awards for the 2025-26 Academic Year will be:  (Three) $4,000, (Two) $2,000, and (Four) $1,000.

LANE COMMUNITY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP
Bernie Conklin Scholarship
Bernie Conklin was development director at the University of Oregon’s Newman Center from 2014-2016. Though he died in June 2016, his legacy lives on in all the wonderful ways he has touched students and permanent community members during his years of ministry at Newman. The Bernie Conklin Scholarship Fund was established in honor of his works at Newman that he championed as development director for the church and center, a student coach, and a father figure to many students.  The scholarship will go to a student currently attending Lane Community College or high school student entering LCC.  Students may apply in succeeding years.
The award for the 2025-26 Academic Year will be (one) $2,500.
Scholarships for the 2025-2026 Academic Year is now Closed.
The application process for the 2026-2027 Academic Year will open in January of 2026
