We have all heard, "If my team wins you have to (fill in the blank)."
When the Salt Lake City Newman Center at the University of Utah called us, wanting to put a friendly wager on the game, we had to put our thinking caps on. What type of embarrassment would we want to put them through when the DUCKS WIN??? Would they wear UO shirts for the day, sing the UO fight song, or paint their faces green and yellow?
We came up with something more social justice based. The students at the losing Newman Center will gather 100 cans of food and donate it to their local food bank in honor of the winning team! They will take photos and post it in their bulletin and on their website for everyone to see. In the end, everyone's a winner with this wager! GO DUCKS!!!
